RecruitMilitary to Conduct Career Fair for Veterans Aboard The Queen Mary in Long Beach, California, on July 17
Long Beach, CA (PRWEB) June 23, 2008 -- The military-to-civilian recruiting firm RecruitMilitary will present a free hiring event for job seekers who have military backgrounds in Long Beach, California, on Thursday, July 17. This event, the RecruitMilitary Career Fair, will take place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. aboard the retired ocean liner The Queen Mary. RecruitMilitary urges all job seekers who have military backgrounds to attend--veterans who already have civilian work experience, men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life, members of the National Guard and reserves, and military spouses.
The event will be the 58th of 104 RecruitMilitary Career Fairs scheduled for 2008. RecruitMilitary will also produce events in Anaheim on August 14, in San Diego on November 13, in Sacramento on November 20, and in Las Vegas on December 11.
More than 20 veteran-friendly organizations will conduct one-on-one interviews with the job seekers--organizations that will include corporate employers, law-enforcement agencies and other government employers, educational institutions, veterans service agencies, and veterans associations. Already in the line-up are Alcoa, Bally Total Fitness, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, California Department of Veterans Affairs, DeVry University, L-3 Communications Integrated Systems, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Los Angeles Port Police Department, Military Sealift Command, Military Spouse Corporate Career Network, Praxair, SC Field Technical Services, Team and Network Training, The Entrepreneur's Source, the U.S. Border Patrol, Universal Technical Institute, Varian Medical Systems, the Veterans Benefits Administration, and Walgreens.
RecruitMilitary will produce the career fair in cooperation with The American Legion; HireVetsFirst, a unit of the United States Department of Labor; and the Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (MSCCN).
More than 500 organizations attended 45 RecruitMilitary Career Fairs in 2007. At those events, an average of 30-plus organizations interviewed an average of over 325 job seekers. RecruitMilitary Career Fairs conducted in 2006 and 2007 generated television coverage by CNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN; radio coverage by ESPN and numerous regional stations; and articles in metropolitan and local newspapers.
