New Book Gives Students a Head Start on Career Planning
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) September 17, 2007 -- The road to a happy and successful career can be a winding one full of stops and starts and detours along the way; however, a new book gives college bound students a valuable head start in finding a career they will love. Twin Cities' businessman John Bendt has authored a book, A Roadmap to Career Success ? 25 Tips For College Bound Students, to help students improve their ability to get the job they want when they begin their career.
Bendt believes the path to a rewarding and successful career is a journey that starts in high school, continues through college and into one's work life. In his first book, A Roadmap to Career Success, Bendt has created a practical resource for college bound students to guide them through the career exploration process, which he believes should begin in the early years of high school.
"The best time to start examining careers and preparing for the competitive workplace is when you start high school," says Bendt. "This book teaches students how to use their power to make wise decisions now that will improve their ability to gain what they want in the future."
Bendt wrote the book based on his insights from 40 years in the business world and his longtime commitment to mentoring. He believes that in today's competitive workplace it is more important than ever for students to focus on preparing for a successful work life from early on in their school life so they can take the necessary steps to make it happen. For instance, a valuable lesson in the book teaches students how to engage adult professionals in their exploration of occupations and to identify the requirements for success.
"When students have the opportunity to interact with an adult professional in a mentoring capacity, they gain valuable insights into how the work world works," says Bendt. "My hope is that students will learn from my life time of lessons and experience so they can better prepare for a work life that is fulfilling and successful."
The book is currently available at RoadmaptoCareerSuccess.com and Amazon.com.
"I believe parents will find this book a very useful tool to help guide and encourage their high school students to become proactive in preparing for their future," says Bendt. "It will accelerate their child's learning curve on how to shape a happy and successful career."
